Hawks to Face Vancouver in the Conference Semi-Finals
As the Anaheim Ducks knock off the #1 seed San Jose Sharks 4-2, the 2nd round of the playoffs sorts itself out. The Hawks (4 seed) play the Canucks (3 seed), and open the series in Vancouver. As the Western Conference has been decided, the Ducks will head East to play the Red Wings. Scheduling will be announced upon completion of the Eastern Conference results this evening. The Washington-Rangers series as well as the Devils-Hurricanes series are both tied at 3-3, with game 7 tonight.
Further results from the first round:
Western Conference:
San Jose (1) vs. Anaheim (8) – Ducks win 4-2
Detroit (2) vs. Columbus (7) – Red Wings win 4-0
Vancouver (3) vs. St. Louis (6) – Canucks win 4-0
Chicago (4) vs. Calgary (5) – Blackhawks win 4-2
Eastern Conference:
Boston (1) vs. Montreal (8) – Bruins win 4-0
Washington (2) vs. New York Rangers (7) – Series tied 3-3
New Jersey (3) vs. Carolina (6) – Series tied 3-3
Pittsburgh (4) vs. Philadelphia (5) – Penguins wins 4-2
Even though the Hawks finished with 4 points more than Vancouver in the regular season, Vancouver retains the home ice since they were the higher seed after winning their weak Northwest Division. That rule blows.
